The demise of Sushant Singh Rajput has created a stir all over the nation. While Mumbai Police has declared that he has allegedly ended his life by suicide, fans believe there is a need for investigation by the CBI. The death of the actor has also raised the topic of nepotism. Makers like Karan Johar, Aditya Chopra and Mahesh Bhatt are daily facing the ire of trolls. People have slammed them for alleged favouritism. Karan Johar faced the worst brunt of the trolls. Clips of him talking in a condescending manner about Sushant Singh Rajput surfaced on social media and people hit out at the filmmaker for being biased towards his proteges.
Now, Mumbai Mirror has reported that Karan Johar has made up his mind to step down as a director from MAMI. He is apparently upset that no one from the industry supported him publicly when he was lynched online by trolls. He has written to Smriti Kiran on email that he wants to resign from the board. As per the paper, Deepika Padukone is trying to convince him otherwise. The panel also has Vikramaditya Motwane, Siddharth Roy Kapur, Zoya Akhtar and Kabir Khan on board. Not only Karan Johar but also Alia Bhatt has faced the wrath of people on social media.
After the death of Sushant, Karan Johar wrote a long post on Instagram. He said, “I blame myself for not being in touch with you for the past year….. I have felt at times like you may have needed people to share your life with…but somehow I never followed up on that feeling…will never make that mistake again…we live in very energetic and noisy but still very isolated times …some of us succumb to these silences and go within…we need to not just make relationships but also constantly nurture them….Sushants unfortunate demise has been a huge wake up call to me …to my level of compassion and to my ability to foster and protect my equations…..I hope this resonates with all of you as well….will miss your infectious smile and your bear hug ….”
